The history of the Ricasoli family has been linked to wine since 1141, when there is written testimony attesting that the Ricasoli family already possessed Brolio Castle.
In fact, the family tree, reproduced in a print from 1584, is one of the first images of the Chianti area.

Wonderful aromas of blackberries, mineral, licorice and fruit lead to a full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, succulent, fruity aftertaste. Generous and rich. Mostly Sangiovese. A consistent top wine from Tuscany. Best after 2004. 8,800 cases made. —JS
The ORIGINAL RECIPE OF CHIANTI WINE, written by Baron Bettino Ricasoli in 1872:
“…Mi confermai nei risultati ottenuti già nelle prime esperienze cioè che il vino riceve dal Sangioveto la dose principale del suo profumo (a cui io miro particolarmente) e una certa vigoria di sensazione; dal Canajuolo l’amabilità che tempera la durezza del primo, senza togliergli nulla del suo profumo per esserne pur esso dotato; la Malvagia, della quale si potrebbe fare a meno nei vini destinati all’invecchiamento, tende a diluire il prodotto delle due prime uve, ne accresce il sapore e lo rende più leggero e più prontamente adoperabile all’uso della tavola quotidiana…”
