Pompei is the only ancient city in the world whose everyday life was “frozen” in a day, it was not abandoned or destroyed, so in the taverns there are still the remains of food, in the amphorae some wine, in the villas the private vineyards of the nobles.
Mastroberardino winery and University of Naples have restored ancient vineyards exactly where they were and with the same vines and today produces the Villa dei Misteri wine with ancient Roman techniques.
As this is an exceptional experiment of living archeology these “fields” are usually NOT OPEN FOR VISITORS: only our guest will be guided into the vineyards by a Mastroberardino ambassador, will taste the Villa dei Misteri wine, will try perfect pairing with the ancient Roman cuisine.
Here we are not talking about modern “imitations”, this is really the wine of the Roman Emperors !!!

EMOTIONAL LIVING HISTORY EXPERIENCE
The project began in the 90s, when the Archaeological Superintendency of Pompeii gave Mastroberardino, one of the most prestigious Italian wineries, the task of restoring viticulture in the ancient city of Pompei. Archaeological investigations, botanical studies, detection of vines ‘s roots and the relative support posts (forever “immortalized” by the great eruption of 79 AD) confirmed the presence of this crop within the walls of the city, in the gardens and vegetable gardens that adorned the villas of the aristocrats, and in the suburbs near the Amphitheater.
Pompei is a symbol of history and civilization and immediately talks about Italy: every year over two and a half million tourists visit the archaeological excavations BUT ONLY OUR SPECIAL GUEST HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO VISIT THE VINEYARDS AND TASTE THE WINE.
“Villa dei Misteri”, produced in the vineyards inside Pompei, it’s the extraordinary messenger of our most ancient cultures and traditions. It comes from vines grown inside the aristocratic Domus of Pompei, right where they were growing 2,000 years ago and owes its name “Villa dei Misteri” to one of the most beautiful Domus that this incredible and unique story has given us.
