ALTESINO’s Brunello di Montalcino

Code: 003

“One of the MOST REPRESENTATIVE vineyards in ITALY” (according to Wine Spectator). The visit is conceived as a journey to immerse yourself in the world of wine and in the history of the winery. The itinerary of the visit winds between inside and outside, allowing you to get to know this land up close and in particular the birth and the various stages of aging of our Brunello. Then walk in history with the vertical tasting and finally relax at the gourmet wine pairing lunch.

At “Il Passaggio” restaurant chef Andrea Barcia leads a team of professionals who work together to express the heritage of the land through dishes that are communicated in a different and original way so that they stimulate curiosity… with this “Tuscan but creative” special menu in pairing with Altesino wines.

The company’s philosophy has always been to create high quality wines and this is why so much attention is devoted to every single detail, not only at each stage of production.
The winery’s outlook combines an essential respect for the trust in tradition with a forward-looking perspective, resulting in wine that retains the unique and high quality reputation of Brunello. From its emphasis on traditional methods of agriculture, the careful hand selection of the grapes, to the rose bushes which overlook each of the vines, Altesino firmly maintains its control over quality, principle that governs every aspect of life and work at the estate

Part of Altesino’s historical cellars are situated within the historic walls of Palazzo Altesi, while behind the vineyards and benefiting from a natural slope, its modern functional facilities were built; where fermentation, refining and bottling take place. The modern winery was built with a special focus on eco-sustainability: due to its underground location it is perfectly insulated. While respecting the ancient territory of Montalcino, the Altesino winery is not only a functional and innovative workplace but also, and above all, a place with low environmental impact, built according to the dictates of sustainable architecture

Brunello di Montalcino “Our 40th Harvest“ 2012 Wine Spectator TOP100 2017 #11,
96 pts Cherry, leather and iron notes mark this suave, elegant red. A bit reticent now, but the fruit is fresh and long on the finish. The dense tannins leave a mouthcoating impression, but this opens up beautifully over a few hours. Best from 2021 through 2035. —BS
